Chris Talks Energy - Energy Saving Tips

Welcome

Hi, I’m Chris, and I started Chris Talks Energy because I love helping people cut their energy bills.

I began tracking my own usage in 2022, when the war in Ukraine sent UK energy prices soaring. Since then, bills have stayed stubbornly high, and rather than hoping for a drop, I’ve used all kinds of tips, tricks and technology to take control of mine. I’ve managed to keep them under control and even cut them, at a time when a typical household pays over £1,700 a year.

And things are about to get tougher. Because of the war in Iran and the disruption to oil and gas supplies, the January 2027 price cap is predicted to rise by around 27%, which would push a typical bill to roughly £2,190 a year. Ofgem confirms the actual figure by 25 November, but with another rise looking all but certain, now feels like the right time to share what I know.

I’m also settling into a new home that’s much more energy intensive than my last, and changed energy providers so you’ll be following along as I work out how to keep my new home's bills down too.

Have a look around, subscribe to my newsletter for energy saving tips straight to your inbox, and get in touch if you have questions. I’m not an industry expert, but I’m happy to point you in the right direction where I can.

Thanks for stopping by!
