Hey, I'm Chris, and I'm the face behind Chris Talks Energy! I've always tried to keep my energy costs as low as possible, but in 2022, when the war in Ukraine pushed prices up, I started to really focus on managing my bills.
Over the last few years, through savvy energy use, technology such as smart thermostats, and keeping an eye on the best available tariffs, I've made real progress, which I'm very proud of.
Chris Talks Energy is my outlet for sharing how I keep costs down, how I use tech to lower my bills, and my thoughts on an ever-changing energy market.
I've also just moved into a new home with a much more complex heating setup:
- Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000 Life 45kW combi boiler
- Water-based underfloor heating with SALUS smart controls
- Gazco Loft gas stove
- Gazco electric fire
- Conventional radiators on the upper floors
- Google Nest thermostats
- Electric underfloor heating in two bathrooms
It's a large house, with over 6,000 sq ft to heat, and my daily costs can vary widely. I'll be sharing what I learn as I try to keep my family warm without letting the bills run away.
