My Meta Ads experiment

Stay Monday, my landing page with my list of recommended hotels in North East England, is very much a passion project. It's a way to keep me connected to the local hotel industry, to network, and to pass on my recommendations.

But what if it could be more than that? What if I drove traffic to the site, and to see if people would find something of value there, and ideally, click out onto one of my affiliate links.

This week I ran a bit of an experiment with Meta Ads, through Facebook and Instagram, to see if we could achieve any success, and to my surprise, we have!

With a budget of £2 per day, over 3 days, we managed to get 55 visitors onto the site, and 23.6% of them to click out to one of my affiliate links. Now, we haven't had any bookings, so far at least, but as some of the clickers will land on sites such as Expedia and Hotels.com, which set tracking cookies, we may see some results over the next few weeks.

Overall, I'm really pleased with how this little experiment has panned out. It's reinforced my long term thinking that there is a healthy market out there, that I can design a good leisure-focused landing page, and that people will click out to learn more about the hotels that I recommend.
